Commission and Faq : Watercolor Art, Abstracts, Illustration
  • I often lay on that bench looking up into the tree, past the trunk and up into the branches. It was particularly fine at night with the stars above the tree :: Georgia O’Keeffe

Please use this form to submit an inquiries about purchasing the artwork as wholesale, representation or licensing. Painting and prints can not be purchased directly from the store for resale, without discussing it with me. I offer a designer’s discount.

Ah! So, you like one or more of my paintings and considering to buy it! Fantastic—thank you.

Just go to my store,  click on the photo of the painting and you can purchase the painting by clicking the BUY NOW button.

  1. What happens next?
If you are interested in buying a painting, just click on the BUY button to the right of the image of the painting and follow the instructions to purchase it through Credit/Debit Card (secure server) or PayPal. If you have any questions, please email me. If a painting is not marked sold it is available for purchase.
  2. If you see a painting that has been sold but want something similar please email me for a commission (an additional 20-30% of the price is applied).
  3.  Once payment is received I will prepare your painting for shipping. Watercolors don’t have any drying time, but acrylic paintings need to dry, if they’ve been painted recently, additionally I apply a coat of varnish for protection so please allow few days for watercolors and 2 weeks for an acrylic for delivery from the time the painting was purchased.
  4. I will send you a USPS / FEDEX tracking email once the painting has shipped so you will know when to expect your delivery.
  5. My paintings are shipped worldwide, personally and carefully packaged in acid-free supplies (will not affect the painting).

In-stock items ship within 5-10 business days unless noted otherwise in the product listing.
Made-to-order items take between 2-4 weeks to ship (this is noted in the item listing).
International buyers accept responsibility for tariffs, customs, and all other fees. The painting will be carefully packed and shipped via USPS either First or Priority class mail.
Sometimes I get backed up, especially during the holiday season. If you need an item sent quickly to make a deadline, please let me know and I’ll try my hardest to work something out.
Approximate delivery (first class USPS) time from the package has left my studio is:

  • 3-5 working day to the USA
  • 7-10 working days to Canada
  • 10-15 working days to the remaining destinations

I ship all over the world, and the freight charge depends on your delivery address and your purchase amount. International packages are sometimes held up in Customs so the transit times will vary. Give yourself up to 4 weeks deadline from the ordering date.

Find your delivery zone below the order under SHIPPING section and see the charges. Anything under 16″ inches ships USPS. Paintings larger than 16″ inches usually go via FedEx ground. The very smallest paintings go First Class USPS. Your shipping fee includes the cost of postage, packing materials, labor and stocking but not insurance. If you need an insurance, contact me.

If your package weighs more than 13oz, it must be shipped via Priority Mail and it can sometimes take 7 or more business days for packages to reach you  via First Class Mail. Priority Mail packages are usually delivered within three days of shipping, but the USPS does not guarantee delivery within a certain time frame for Priority packages.

USPS doesn’t offer tracking services for First Class packages. Priority packages can technically be tracked, but the USPS isn’t required to scan them upon arrival at each destination, which means the tracking info is fairly unreliable.

Prints 11×14″ or smaller are shipped in flat white cardboard mailers. Prints larger than 11×14″ are shipped in cardboard tubes. My shipping carriers are either FedEx or USPS and I will send a tracking number once the order has been shipped (except First Class—not guaranteed.) I take every precaution to ensure the prints do not get damaged during the shipping process.  (Note: When the tube arrives, take great care when opening or allow your framing professional to open.) Once the order is shipped you will receive an email with a tracking number.

Payment is accepted through secured Credit Card or PayPal (IMPORTANT : you don’t have to have a PayPal account to use it, credit card is accepted via PayPal). If you want to pay differently, you can contact me via Contact Form.

My cards are digitally printed in US using environmentally friendly inks on mostly recycled paper and envelopes.
My art prints are giclée printed on fine art papers in USA, locally.
Framing provided by USA companies. Pillows and other goods are manufactures mostly in USA.

Frame is not included unless stated otherwise. Framing available upon request—additional charges apply. If you’d like to order framing for your print, just email me. USA only.

All framing is done in USA. Please allow an additional 3-4 weeks for your delivery.

If you want to go the DIY route.

Framing sounds scary but I promise it’s not. Some originals are painted on paper, some on thin board and these require some kind of frame. You can simply buy a larger than the artwork frame (Ikea, West Elm, Hobby Lobby) or use simple and affordable framing services at stores like Hobby Lobby, Michaels, Dick Blick or your local framing shop. If your painting has a deckled edge (uneaven) it’s nice to mount it with no mat to show the edges. Otherwise buy a mat that fits into your frame and is suitable for your painting (the opening is slightly smaller than the artwork) and you’re all good! I prefer white frames and white matting for all my water media and watercolor prints and artwork.
In case of large painting, these will taken down from the stretcher bars and send rolled. It’s very easy and cheap to ask a framer to rest retch the canvas.

Frame is not included unless stated otherwise. There is always an image showing, how the painting or print can look on the wall and it may be not to the exact scale. Every print is signed on back of the print by Marta Spendowska, some are signed on the front (or at least initialed). Some prints are Limited Editions Prints (marked on the page) and those have a specific number on them.

SIZES : sizes are sizes of paper.
Your art print will have a white border for easy matting : .75-2″ all around depending on the size of the final paper. If you need it full bleed (no white border, email me)
All Art Prints are of my original artwork.
It is printed professionally on a gorgeous archival, fade-resistant Epson paper or canvas. The © won’t be printed.
All Prints are packaged to prevent bending or warping in transit they are placed in archival cello sleeve then placed into a “Do Not Bend” sticker.

I recommend keeping the print enclosed in the glassine covering it was shipped in until the image is framed. In particular, for larger prints I suggest being extremely cautious when unrolling the print as damage may occur if not careful. Ideally, the larger prints should be unrolled by the framer.

Some originals are signed on front (or initialed) and ALL are signed on the back of the painting (sometimes of the side) by Marta Spendowska. Most of my watercolor paintings are painted on either Fabriano or Arches or art archival museum quality art papers, 98lb, 140lb or 300lb. I use artistic watercolors by W&N or Holbein or Graham or archival mixed media. Most of my mixed media work is painted on either paper, canvas, or on wood : in case of panel over 3/8″ these are ready to hang (no framing needed). I like the edges to be either white, wood-like or painted like a painting.

Can you teach me watercolor ?

Hmm…not really. My watercolor is an experimentation. If you’d like to study this medium (watercolor), read everything about it you can get your hands on. It’s a difficult medium and so different than oils or acrylics. Again, if you are an Artist, I created this page specifically for you.

Can you paint my cat/dog?

Nope, not my thing. But, I did one dog portrait and it turned out great and has been included in the book by the amazing design studio TheModernDog : 1000 Dog Portraits.
