I'm writing to you, who have always sensed there is more.
At my core, I am a private person. This surprises people. There is an assumption that artists must be perpetually open — exhibitionistic by nature, spilling themselves across every available surface, hungry to be witnessed. And perhaps some are. But I have always believed that the most essential part of a person lives in the places they choose not to display.
The thinking that happens at odd hours. The questions that don't resolve neatly. The obsessions that have nothing and everything to do with the work.
These are mine. And when you put something thoughtful into the open air of the internet, it becomes noise — skimmed, flattened, indexed by algorithms that don't care, stripped of the intimacy that gave it meaning in the first place. I refused to let that happen to the things I actually care about.
So I built a room.
Artletter.Redacted is that room. The ideas, obsessions, and perspectives that exist nowhere else online. Not indexed. Not stumbled upon. Not for everyone.
But it is not only that.
It is also intensely useful because the private and the practical are not as separate as people think. Alongside the inner world, you will find what I have learned running a creative business, shared without performance or polish. How I paint certain things and why. The supplies I use and return to.
